It's that time of year, and Doc wants to spread the joy a little. He's got some gifts for friends of his (though how some of them get to their destinations is a little up in the air -- the Nexus provides, apparently):

For John ([livejournal.com profile] hart_on_sleeve), there's a pair of new faux-fur-lined boots. He's heard John's complaints about the cold, after all. There's also a littler pair for Alina.

For Metody ([livejournal.com profile] metody_green), there's a book on skeletons he found and figured the guy would like. Given his talents with bone, after all. . . .

For Clark ([livejournal.com profile] kalel_ofkrypton), there's an astronomy book. Doc was a little unsure what to get him, but then figured he might like looking up at the stars and seeing what else is out there.

For Farley ([livejournal.com profile] clanoftheswords), there's a multitool. Doc remembers the first time he got one, and he knows just how useful they are.

For Revan ([livejournal.com profile] curtainfalling), there's a dark purple cloak. Again, Doc was unsure what exactly to get, but he thinks she'll like this.

As for his other friends, Marty's getting a CD of the best of the 80s; Victor's getting a bell jar Doc's modified to have magnification properties (so he can get a REALLY good look at his butterflies), and Alice's getting a sharpening stone for her Vorpal Blade. And Dee's getting her first-ever stuffed animal, a plush doggy.

(And if you think you and Doc have interacted enough to have him exchange presents with you, go ahead and make something up. I'm just kind of bad at remembering everyone he interacts with. ^^;)

All right, those bastards killed someone else today. I want to know where all of you are. I have to know you're in a safe place. Or what passes for safe around this goddamn city.

I'm not I can't

Please get back to me as soon as possible.
clockwork_doc: (damn damn damn)
All right, JD appears to be unharmed, but how about the rest of you? I suppose you all know better than to go near that coffee shop by now, but. . . .

Damn it, and I was getting used to the quiet too

If you see anything you think my particular talents could help with, let me know.
clockwork_doc: (building things)
If anyone needs me, I'm going to be up on the roof practicing some wind control. And perhaps testing out my new glider-coat a little. (No, I'm not going to jump off the roof. I merely figured it would be a nice, private place with little chance of knocking anything over.)

So, yes, if you want to see me in the next hour or so, I'll be up there.

I'm assuming you've all heard about the big event coming up. Aubrey appears to be coming -- can I expect to see any of the rest of you there? Been a while since I talked to any of you in person, I think.

I'll be bringing plans for my latest inventions. And candy canes. Because I wanted something to pass out for Christmas.

Hope you're all well!

Think I've licked the problem with the Imperviall at last. You were right, it was an issue with the silicon content. I'll bring over another sample soon. I want to talk about my glider idea some more too.

Also, you've probably noticed my fashion sense isn't exactly conducive to finding appropriate formal outfits. If you could give me any advice, it would be appreciated.

(OOC: Otherwise known as, is it possible to get this guy into the end-of-Part-III outfit?)

I've seen nothing else regarding the sale of that Nephilim girl. I trust the situation was taken care of?

If anyone needs any help dealing with that, I'd be happy to strangle that bastard with my BARE HANDS HOW DARE HE help. In any way.

[Locked to Aubrey, Revan, Gladys, JD, Farley]
Haven't seen much of any of you lately. Are you all okay? Or have you all been eaten temporarily by one of those strange Rifts? Would be my luck.

Great Scott. I -- I really don't know how to put this. It's just so -- so incredible! I never thought --

I was testing my weather powers earlier in the park. Nothing fancy, just working on my wind control. I was curious about the strength I could achieve, trying to find my upper limit --

when one picked me up off the ground.

Just for a few seconds, but

I think I can fly.
clockwork_doc: (building things)
Hey everyone! I've managed to procure some work apart from my part-time job at the junkyard. The proprietor of Mode Couture agreed to let me try and replicate some rather interesting fabrics from her home world here. Fairly complicated stuff, but I'm looking forward to giving it the good old college try. If any of you want to give me a hand, I'd be happy to have you.

I'm still working on my time machine, of course. Now that I have the flux capacitor done, I'm working on the basic casing for the time display panel. The real problem here is going to be getting the necessary circuitry. Hmm.

I've also managed to get my powers more under my control; i.e., create weather phenomena that does NOT automatically appear right over my head. The weather around me still responds to my emotions, but at least now I can move it away from me and dissipate it quicker. I'm planning on practicing more tomorrow when I get a chance. Wind control, mostly.

How are you all doing?
clockwork_doc: (time travel stuff)
(The following is both written in Doc's Rift Journal and sent to his Nexus friends via the message option in his PINpoint. The Rift people who respond can't see any Nexus responses and vice-versa -- I'm only doing it this way because it seems redundant to make two identical entries.)

Well -- it's my birthday today. I'm turning 66. To the best of my knowledge, at any rate. (Damn Fae time, not working in the normal linear fashion. . . .)

As a nice little birthday gift to myself, I've managed to finish my flux capacitor model! I bought a camera from the hotel gift shop so I could take some pictures.

It even lights up! Doesn't do much beyond that, of course, not without the proper wiring, but it's still progress. (My apologies about the quality of this next picture -- it's surprisingly hard to get a photo of something flashing.)

Anyway, maybe I'll see some of you around. I plan on getting cake at some point. What's a birthday without cake even if you're stranded?

(OOC: Pictures are thumbnails, because they're FRICKING HUGE. I gotta figure out more about the size options on my camera.)

Since you're the ones who are the most interested in building things, I thought I'd share the locations of some of the hardware stores I've found via the phone book. Most of them appear to be the same general franchise, given they have "Ace" in their names. Kind of odd, honestly.

Anyway, the one nearest the Conrad hotel is Clark & Barlow Hardware Co.: 353 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL - (312) 726-3010‎

The closest I could find to Cicero is Elston Ace Hardware Stores: 1514 W 33rd St, Chicago, IL - (773) 247-6100‎

And a couple of others, for variety --
Ace Hardware: 440 N Orleans St, Chicago, IL - (312) 527-4200‎

Ace Hardware Stores: 315 E 35th St, Chicago, IL - (312) 225-5687‎

Gordon's Ace Hardware: 24 W Maple St, Chicago, IL - (312) 787-6887‎

The results of all this searching has given me ample parts, so hopefully within a few weeks I can show you all a working (well, for a given value of such) flux capacitor model!

Okay. Seems the time we've settled on is Saturday, the 5:15 P.M. showing of Journey to the Center of the Earth. Last chance to bring up objections. I think we should all meet in front of the theater at around 4:30 or so, so we'll have time to purchase refreshments and the like. The theater is the AMC River East, located at 322 East Illnois Street.

Looking forward to seeing all of you!

(OOC: Of course, Revan's out, since Kat's going to get hit with a hurricane soon. :( Stay safe, Kat! Anybody else got any problems that would prevent you from participating in this threadwise in the near future? Handwaving and/or schedule adjustment is possible, since I honestly don't have much of a life. ^^;)
clockwork_doc: (quite mad)
Okay! Got an overwhelming positive response to my last entry. Glad to see you're all up for it.

I've done some research, and I've found a movie I'd certainly like to go see -- Journey to the Center of the Earth. Apparently it's not a straight adaptation of the Jules Verne novel, but it does involve it in a rather interesting way. I think it would be a fun experience.

It's currently playing at the AMC River East (322 East Illinois St) at 5:15 P.M. and 10:10 P.M. all this week. So if we can decide on a good day for us to all get together, we should be set.
clockwork_doc: (Default)
Hey everyone,

Anybody interested in going to see a movie sometime? In the theater? I just -- it's quiet now, and I'd like to do something nice with my friends.

I'm still looking up where the local theaters are and what's playing -- I'm just asking now to see if any of you want to go.

Hope you're all doing well!

Why do I keep locking these things to Revan, I haven't

Hello everyone. Yes, I'm still alive. I just -- I haven't gotten back to my journal until now. I left it behind when I went out earlier this week and

Can anyone tell me what the hell happened to that giant rabbit? I tried to catch the thing and contain it, but it got away from me. And then somehow I was back in Arcadia Andrew was going to I'd just really like to know that it's dead. Who the fuck makes giant rabbits

They're saying on the news that there's hundreds of people dead, and I believe them. I've got North Side Services -- the homeless shelter -- pretty much to myself. I guess that when that -- gas -- hit, most of them --

I suppose I should mention I rather left part of Grant Park a shambles. Though it could have been much worse. [Public] All right, this isn't like her. I'm making this public so any other acquaintances can hopefully help me.

Has anyone seen a woman by the name of Revan Onasi lately? I've been trying to get in touch with her, but she hasn't been replying. Long dark hair, brown eyes, on the taller side. Psychic Jedi.

[Heavily scribbled out]If she's been eaten by any walls [/Public]

[Locked to Aubrey, Farley, Gladys, JD, Revan(if she can still read this)] A bank exploded today, and the mayor was shot. I heard the explosion earlier, but I just learned the particulars.

Some days, I hate this town. It seems like you can't go one day without something horrible happening.

None of you were in the area of attack, right? I can't think of why any of you would go to a bank. [/Locked]

(OOC: Due to the fact that JD's mun Rizzy has not seen BTTF in years and thus wasn't sure how to handle threading, we're handwaving. Pretend this happened a few days ago)

Well. I just saw the Back To The Future trilogy. Yes, trilogy. There are three movies. JD was nice enough to sneak me into his room and order them up so we could watch them. Thank you, JD.

I -- The movies are obviously a different universe from where I came from. The version of Dr. Emmett Brown contained therein never had any run-ins with Faeries. The movies were an exploration of his first time travel experiments with Marty. Well, more accurately, first time travel disasters. In the first movie, Marty accidentally broke up his parents, and his mother developed a crush on him, so he was slowly erasing from existence. In the second, Biff Tannen (a jackass and bully I knew back in Hill Valley) stole the time machine and a future sports almanac from 2015 and created an alternate reality in which he murdered Marty's father, married Marty's mother, and basically completely destroyed our hometown. The third saw my other self get trapped in 1885, with Marty having to go rescue him. It all ended happily, of course, but

I can't say I regret seeing the movies, I was able to actually glean a lot of information for my own flux capacitor. (Apparently I'm supposed to be using a car called a DeLorean for this. I prefer the Skid myself.) And it was good to see Marty again. I'm sure you're all sick of me saying this, but I do miss him. It was just so -- strange, seeing this other me, untouched by monsters, Fae, having adventures, inventing things

HE'S MARRIED.

My other self, at the end of the trilogy, has a wife and two children. It would be stupid of me to say I'm not jealous. Great Scott. . . .

I'm fine, really, just -- confused. How is everyone? Revan, I still want to talk to you if you get a moment.
clockwork_doc: (life is complicated)
[Locked to Revan] I really need to talk to you. About a number of subjects. Torchwood in Can you meet me in Grant Park sometime soon? I'll be by the water fountain. I just -- very much need to see you. [/Locked]

[Locked to John "JD" Dorian] I've decided to take you up on your movie offer, if it's still open. Just tell me what room you're in and what's a good time for you. My curiosity's just gotten the best of me.

I heard you met Farley Claymore -- hope you two got along. It's funny how everyone I meet seems to run into each other eventually. [/Locked]

[Locked to Gladys] I've made it safely to the homeless shelter you pointed me to. They were fine with putting me up for a while. Thank you again for the money and the tip -- it was very much appreciated. I've managed to secure employment (well, using the term a bit loosely), so hopefully I can pay you back soon. Don't worry about me, I'm fine. [/Locked]

[Locked to Farley] I'm actually going to go see this movie I apparently star in -- JD offered to show it to me. I must be out of my mind, but I haven't been able to stop wondering about it. Plus it means seeing Marty again

It was good to see you the other day in the park. I hope you're still doing all right. No more disturbing dreams, right? [/Locked]

[Locked to Aubrey] I've actually managed to get a job at the junkyard we were going to. The owner's willing to give me $20 a week if I watch the place while he gets lunch and keep anyone from taking parts. Also giving me the pick of the junk piles. I might be able to wrangle something for you, if you're interested and need pocket money.

I haven't found any trace of Litta yet, I'm sad to say. Been asking around all over Chicago, but no luck. I don't intend to give up yet, though. I'm coming back to the hotel briefly to see a movie (about ME, apparently -- it's complicated), so I'll check around there before I leave again. She can't have just -- well -- no, they have to go SOMEPLACE

How are you doing? Like I said, if you need anything, just let me know. Oh, and say hi to the Skid for me. (Farley told me about giving it the sex talk. Best laugh I've gotten in a month.) [/Locked]

I will be leaving the Conrad hotel until further notice. Anyone who needs a room is welcome to take mine. The number is 407.

[Locked to Revan, Aubrey, Gladys, Farley]
I'm leaving the Conrad. I don't want to, but I don't think I have much of a choice. You see, I went down to the Rift Room to check up on the Rift Detection Device, and I happened to find a pocketwatch down there. . .

It wasn't an ordinary watch. Apparently it had another version of the Doctor trapped inside of it, and when I opened it, it -- became conscious, I suppose. At any rate, Romana sensed the signal and --

Great Scott, this is complicated. Suffice to say she scared me sufficiently by her mere presence to make me accidentally unleash a hurricane-force wind at her. This didn't do much to her, and she was able to invade my mind stop me, but then the TARDIS came and took us both. The Doctor has the watch now, and I'm sure he's handling it however he can. I don't know where Romana is, but I'm sure she's not too happy with me. I don't want to live in the same hotel she has her base in. It just doesn't seem to be common sense.

Gladys, Aubrey, Farley -- I'm sorry to have to leave you here alone. I'll try and contact you all as soon as I've found some place to go. Stay out of trouble and stay out of Romana's way.

Aubrey, I'm especially sorry about leaving you and the Skid. If I can sneak back into the parking garage, I'll try. I don't want to abandon you our projects.

Revan -- I don't know where you're staying, but -- is it at all possible you could put me up for a night or two? I don't have any money is the problem.

Stay safe, everyone.

WHAT IN THE NAME OF SIR ISAAC H. NEWTON HAPPENED HERE?!

I know what happened in a factual sense. Romana attacked the Doctor, this Torchwood group has left, now we're all being herded upstairs to avoid the further wrath of the First Angel, but -- how did it even get to this point?!

I suppose it'll be good for my health to get out of this room, I suspect mildew's taking over the carpet, but --

I was just starting to feel at home here. I was getting used to this place. I was
I was happy.

Revan, why did you have to leave, I wanted to talk to you
This had to happen right after I remembered DYING
I don't want to die again

I suppose I'll use this post as a warning -- if you see any odd meterological phenomena, that's me. The weather around my person tends to react to my moods, and I'm scared worried nervous. I don't know the radius to which my power extends, so if there's any indoor thunderstorms or the like, just assume it's me.

What in the name of Sir Isaac H. Newton HAPPENED in the basement lobby?? I wasn't present -- I'd vacated the lobby earlier to redo my ruined designs -- but I've heard some fantastical reports. Angels, demons, Torchwood, people getting shot, someone exiling himself. . . .

I am in no mood for people dying, so someone tell me we're all still alive, if not in the best condition. That applies especially to Aubrey, Revan, and Gladys.

Oh, Aubrey, here's my flux capacitor sketch. I'll be bringing it and some other papers when we work on the Skid -- but I figured you might like to get an early look at it:
