(OOC) Social Stuff For Doc
Jul. 24th, 2008 10:04 amWell,
clanoftheswords did it, so I figure I might as well too. I'd really like a Marty to go with my Doc, so here's the application I submitted before if anyone wants to take a look or tweak it:
Name: Martin “Marty” Seamus McFly
Age/Birthdate: 17/June 9th, 1968
Species: Human/Changeling, Wanderer
Type: Marty was already warped before falling through the Rift – this version was captured by the Fae and turned into a Changeling. The trip through the Rift yanked away most of Marty’s Fae Contracts, like it did to Doc, leaving him only “Songs of Distant Arcadia” from the Contracts of Vainglory – though, unlike Doc, he can use it at full strength. (Basically, he’s simply supernaturally good at singing and playing the guitar.) It also caused him to start glowing for no discernable reason. He can control the brightness of the glow, but it never fully goes away.
Canon: Back To The Future mixed with the Changeling: The Lost RPG
Journal: museicalmarty
Played-By: Michael J. Fox
Icon: (not available yet)
Appearance: Marty’s pretty short for a guy – only about five feet four inches. He’s of about average weight for his size – skinny, but not scrawny. He’s shockingly handsome, being a Fairest – his skin and teeth are absolutely perfect, his eyes are the clearest blue you could ask for, and his brown hair is shiny and soft as silk. His taste in clothes are pretty standard for a teenager – blue jeans, T-shirts, wash-and-wear stuff. (Or, in his case, sleep-and-wear, since he tends to sleep in his clothes.) He came through the Rift in a pair of jeans ripped at the knees, a red T-shirt, a jean jacket with “Marty McFly” written in colorful letters on the back, and Nike sneakers.
Personality: Despite his flawless good looks, Marty’s actually not that vain. He appreciates that he looks pretty much perfect, yes, but the circumstances that made him look like that taint his appreciation. He’s a pretty average teen in most respects – he’s fairly easygoing, if a tad shy (thanks to his Keeper). He loves to play guitar and sing, and likes to write down ideas for songs. He’s got a bit of a temper to him – he’ll want to punch walls (or people) sometimes. He has no patience for anyone who bullies or hurts others. He’s also rather vulnerable to being called “chicken” – he HATES being thought of as a coward. To his friends, though, he’s very loyal and willing to do what he can to keep them safe. Like Doc, he despises anything to do with faeries, and occasionally has nightmares about his durance in Arcadia. And yes, he’s just as joined at the hip to Doc as Doc is to him, so fair warning to anyone who might try and hurt his best friend.
History: Like Doc, Marty grew up in the small town of Hill Valley, California. Marty’s home life wasn’t the best – his father George was a complete wimp who bowed at the slightest sign of pressure, and his mother Lorraine was a borderline alcoholic from having to deal with the consequences of George’s personality. Despite this, Marty grew up as well as could be expected, making lots of friends and getting into mischief – most notably accidentally torching the living room rug at the age of eight.
At the age of twelve, Marty discovered a talent for playing the guitar and gained a quick love of music. He soon began fantasizing about becoming rich and famous as a rock star and began seriously playing guitar, picking up things quickly and working on his own songs. At fourteen, he and some friends formed a band, which they named the Pinheads. They practiced together faithfully, and they dedicated themselves to becoming the best rock band they could be, in hopes of attracting the attention of an agent.
Rather unfortunately, they did – a Faerie known as “The Agent.” Disguised as a concert promoter named Carlos, he approached Marty when the latter was fifteen, promising the teen that he would play a sold-out show within the week if he’d just come for a ride in Carlos’s limo. Marty, naive and enthusiastic, immediately agreed, and was quietly spirited away to Arcadia. He soon discovered the truth about the situation, as he was promptly shoved out onto a stage and forced to play for an audience of uncaring Fae until his throat was raw and his fingers were bleeding. Carlos turned out to be a very mercurial manager, praising Marty one minute and punishing him the next. He also forcibly sculpted the teen’s flesh, changing his form into something more pleasing to Fae eyes. For a while, Marty lived in terror, tiptoeing around Carlos’s changeable moods and praying that he wouldn’t have to endure more “perfecting.”
Then, one day, Marty worked up the courage to ask for a microphone to spare his throat a bit. Carlos agreed to the idea and took Marty to meet a friend of his, Andrew, and his Changeling Slave – a man known as the Professor. Marty was initially terrified of the intense Manikin, but soon grew to like him, as the man applauded his music and stood up for him to Carlos. When the drugs Carlos was feeding the teen finally ran out, the Professor also cared for him. Marty returned the Professor’s friendship in full, telling him about Earth and helping him recover his real name – Dr. Emmett Brown.
Eventually, the two decided to try and make a break for it while their Keepers were distracted with another Faerie. They bolted into the Hedge and started running. Unfortunately, a pack of briarwolves set upon them, and they were separated. Marty escaped by the skin of his teeth, but couldn’t find his friend again. Then he found a strange, dark crack in the Hedge, stepped through –
And ended up in the basement of the Conrad Hotel.
This is my version -- if you want to change the powers he got from the Rift, his birthdate, or stuff like that, I'm okay with it. However, I'd really prefer it if you didn't mess with his Arcadian history too much. I really want Doc and Marty as a matched set, and it's important they have roughly the same memories. Also,
museicalmarty actually exists -- if you want to co-opt the LJ, just e-mail me and I'll let you know the password.
Some notes on Doc's current social circle:
The Fanclub
Revan Onasi -- Jedi, former Sith lord. The one who found Doc. Later taught him Aurabesh and Huttese. Doc's grateful for her for finding him and bringing him up to speed so quickly.
Aubrey Ringland -- Asexual environmental scientist from alternate Earth. Met Doc while trying to build a Rift Detection device. Invention-based friendship soon followed. Doc really cares for xem, considering xem something of a new, more scientifically inclined Marty. (Yes, he likes Aubrey for xemself, but the fact remains that's how he would define close friendship.)
Gladys -- Healing Angel (though I don't think Doc knows that). Met Doc when the scientist was working on his inventions after first walking through the Rift, soon helped save him from a nasty nightmare and get him back on his feet after Watchpocolapyse. She reminds Doc of his sister a lot, especially the way she seems to mother him at times.
Farley Claymore -- 1927 scientist from the world of "The Shadow." Met Doc when he walked through the Rift -- Doc was the one to introduce him to the Conrad and keep him updated on what was going on. Doc likes Farley and feels a mild kinship with him because of their timeshifted status. (Farley has it worse than Doc, but even still.) He feels kinda responsible for the guy since he was the one to find him after he walked into Chicago. Since Farley apparently considers him something of an uncle figure, this works out fine.
John "JD" Dorian -- Met in the park across from the Conrad during JD's first trip outside. JD inadvertantly let Doc know he was fictional in some form or fashion (Canon!Doc versus my AU!Doc). Despite this shock, they got along pretty well, Doc encouraging JD to practice his illusion powers. Later there was a handwaved movie night, and now Doc ran to see him after the whole "Coffee Shop Hostages" incident. Yeah, Doc likes JD enough to consider him a close friend, even with all the weirdness.
More Casual Relationships
Zelgadis Graywords -- Met in wake of the "hurricane nightmare." Commiserated a little bit over being forcibly changed. Doc wouldn't mind seeing him again, perhaps forming a friendship.
TARDIS -- Met in the Rift Room while she was all disturbed and unhappy. Shared a little time travel talk -- later she played a major role in Watchpocolapyse. Doc likes her and would love to know more about what makes her tick.
The Doctor -- Met while the Doctor was wandering the halls looking for the TARDIS. Brief conversation about time travel. Later met again during Watchpocolapyse (both him and Watch!Doctor). Wouldn't mind talking to him under more friendly circumstances, especially if it involved the TARDIS and time travel.
Donna Noble -- Met in the Common Room while Donna was mentally poking around the space-time continuum. Brief conversation on the darker side of time and learning she and the Doctor are Time Lords. Also inadvertantly triggered Doc remembering more about his own past (specifically, dying). Doc thought she was rather attractive and definitely wouldn't mind seeing her again. If only to tell her the space-time continuum isn't all darkness.
Marshall Flinkman -- Met in the Common Room while Marshall was making a crude spy gadget. Talked a bit about invention and Marshall's CIA job. Doc likes techy people in general, so if he sees him again, he would be open to chatting.
Belle "Litta" Cullen -- Met in the hallways after a lobby excursion. Shared a brief, Aubrey-centered chat. Belle has since vanished, so. . . .
Romana Angelos -- Met during Watchpocolapyse. Or, more accurately, was scared the shit out of by her suddenly appearing for the watch. Doc is very uneasy around the First and would strongly prefer not to see her again. (Especially since he accidentally, out of fear, hit her with a hurricane-force wind. He'd apologize if he wasn't so nervous.)
Watch!Doctor -- Met during Watchpocolapyse -- found and opened him. Doc doesn't care if he sees him again. He may be slightly bitter about that whole situation.
Brief Encounters and Journal-Only
Rose Tyler -- got a heart coin from her Ninja presents. Got a comment from her when he said thank you. Has since been eaten by the Kashatta.
Cole Anderson -- talked to when Farley arrived. Cole got some asprin for Farley and left it with Doc. Doc might strike up a conversation if he sees Cole again.
Maya Roy -- talked to briefly when Farley came through. Let her know where he was and that he was here. Doc's actually thinking of trying to contact her again to suggest ideas for getting wanderers set up in the new world.
Gwen Cooper -- brief comment over journal -- she let him know where the clothing closet was. Probably no further contact.
John Smith -- talked to over the journals in the wake of Watchpocolapyse. Admitted he was the one who found the watch, asked if John was okay. Isn't sure if he'd like to meet in person.
Nikola Tesla -- talked to over the journals when Nik posted a telegram in it. Would DEFINITELY like to meet in person. Since Aubrey is his assistant, it can be arranged!
Dr. Billy Horrible -- talked to over the journals (well, sent him a comment which Billy answered in his video blog). Doc is more than a little confused by Billy's past (i.e., the Evil League of Evil and Bad Horse), but considers the kid amusing and wouldn't mind getting to know him a bit better.
People I'd Like Doc to Meet
Dmitri Lang -- I think they'd clash interestingly.
Suzie Costello -- Oh, definitely. I imagine great Doc-breakage if she sees his Keeper-shaped shadow.
Zel -- technically already met, but when you come back from hiatus, Kat, I wouldn't mind them saying hi again.
JD --again, technically already met, but I'm just curious on how the whole "watching the movies" thing will be handled. Threading, or are you too busy and we should handwave? Just got journal entries piling up in my head. Taken care of through handwaving -- JD's now a Fanclub member.

Date: 2008-07-25 01:02 am (UTC)So, yeah. Assume it happened offscreen and I'll have Doc here write a slighty angsty post about canon!him being married of all things? (And hopefully Doc and JD get to meet up in person again. Doc seems to have glommed onto JD a little. Dunno why. I've never watched "Scrubs" myself.)
