Sent Out Hopefully So He Can See It

Wherever you are at the moment, Happy Birthday, Metody!

Thankyou!

How on earth did you find out?

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-03 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome!

I remembered you showing up in the Nexus last year on May 2nd, with all that cake. You said it was close to your birthday then, and you confirmed it was May a little later, so -- well, after that I guessed. I figured it was either today or the third, maybe the fourth.

(OOC: Of course, I can't say that LJ notifications told me. ^^;)

Wow, it's really impressive that you remembered!

No cake this year, alas. I haven't baked anything more interesting than bread for months, I think.

((OOC: *headpalm* Right, wasn't thinking. Sorry!))

My memory does seem to be working pretty well these days. A nice change from the past.

I see -- how are you doing, anyway?

(OOC: It's okay, I didn't realize I hadn't thought up an in-character reason for him to know until you commented. Lucky I memoried that Nexus thread from last year.)

Ah, it's always good to hear that!

I'm doing quite well. My job is very satisfying. How have you been?

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-04 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to hear it. I'm doing all right myself. I've been working on a catapult in my spare time, just for the hell of it.

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my. What are you going to do with it when you're done?

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Launch things over great distances, of course.

Seriously, I'm doing this mostly because I can. Just something fun to keep the brain cells working.

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Just to screw with people, you should blow out some ordinary chicken eggs and fill them with glitter before launching.

Or skittles. Who wouldn't love sky skittles?

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-08 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
That does sound like fun. I'll have to remember that. My own personal idea was to see how far I could launch a tire. (Hopefully getting it to land upright and roll some ways.)

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Just don't point it towards anything you want to keep intact!

....so, how hard is it to build a catapult? Because it occurs to me that that might be an ideal solution to my problems with launching. It'd be cool to get something flying without having to first climb a cliff.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, I won't.

Not that hard, really. You just need to get the right balance with the launch mechanism. I had to rework mine a bit when it ended up going off at too light a touch. Once that's settled, though, it would probably be near-perfect for your launching needs.

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, spiffy. Can I see it when you're done, please?

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-10 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! Let me just figure out if I can put it on wheels to bring to the Nexus, or if I'll have to bring you here. I'll let you know one way or the other.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-05-22 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Attaching wheels was a success -- if you want to see it, I'm in the Nexus, near the sign (http://community.livejournal.com/dear_multiverse/5124644.html). Just look for the bright orange cones.
