I admit I noticed the steam. I assumed it was from some kind of mechanical device - possibly some system of steam-powered braces, as for a handicap - or maybe some natural process. Though we were in the Nexus, so people who are different from what I'm used to are practically the norm.

Its fine. I've got plenty of years ahead of me, and I've had a good life. Really, is it any different from facing Alzheimer's? Treatment is just a little more final.
