[RIFT][Locked To Aubrey, Farley, Gladys, JD, and Revan] / [NEXUS][Sent to Daimon and Metody]

(The following is both written in Doc's Rift Journal and sent to his Nexus friends via the message option in his PINpoint. The Rift people who respond can't see any Nexus responses and vice-versa -- I'm only doing it this way because it seems redundant to make two identical entries.)

Well -- it's my birthday today. I'm turning 66. To the best of my knowledge, at any rate. (Damn Fae time, not working in the normal linear fashion. . . .)

As a nice little birthday gift to myself, I've managed to finish my flux capacitor model! I bought a camera from the hotel gift shop so I could take some pictures.

It even lights up! Doesn't do much beyond that, of course, not without the proper wiring, but it's still progress. (My apologies about the quality of this next picture -- it's surprisingly hard to get a photo of something flashing.)

Anyway, maybe I'll see some of you around. I plan on getting cake at some point. What's a birthday without cake even if you're stranded?

(OOC: Pictures are thumbnails, because they're FRICKING HUGE. I gotta figure out more about the size options on my camera.)

Happy birthday, Doc!

Is there going to be a party? If not, can I throw one? In the Nexus - I won't make you deal with my apartment. No one should be subjected to that much shag carpeting without warning.

Thanks, Metody!

I wasn't really planning on a party -- just going out and getting some cake. Kind of hard to organize parties here. But yes, I could probably stop by the Nexus for some sort of get-together. With or without lots of shag carpeting.

(OOC: Though there is the issue of me being gone from 11 to 6, 6:30. Damn afternoon shift at work.)

You have a point about organization. Its like herding meth-crazed fire-breathing cats around here.

Seriously, it's a lot of shag. The ceilings are low and someone at some point was tall and there must have been a sale. It's on the ceilings. And walls. Ever seen that fur-lined Fabrige (sp?) egg? Like that, but horrific.

I have the perfect gift for you.

What kind of cake do you like?

((That's the lovely thing about LJ - things can go a good bit of time between posts!))

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, yeah. It's hard to find everyone and get them all together here too. That one movie trip here in Chicago required a lot of planning.

Wow, I see. Hopefully it's not too awful a color.

Aw thanks. You don't really need to get me anything, though.

I'm partial to chocolate, I admit. Though carrot cake's good too.

(OOC: This is true. I might be celebrating Doc's birthday for the rest of the week! Which is a rather nice thought, honestly. :D)

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
We could make it a longer thing. Docapalooza. Hand out tiny screwdrivers as door favors.

It's pale blue. Really, it could have been much worse - and at least I'm short enough that I don't actually need the padding

Half the fun of gifts is giving them to people who don't need them!

I wonder if it's possible to combine carrot cake and chocolate cake? Though that might turn out to be one of those things that Man Was Not Meant to Bake.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
(Doc's chuckling at this) Probably wouldn't be any different from some of the other events I've seen going on in there.

That's not so bad, yeah. At least you have an interesting place to live.

I don't know. I've never tried carrots and chocolate together. Might be a little frightening.

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. It's a comfy little nest. And low heating bills in winter.

Maybe I'll just make two cakes. You can get anything in a box here. Anything.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Useful, then!

I see. You could also make a half-cake of each and put them side by side. Or ice them together with a little barrier in between.

[identity profile] metody-green.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's a good idea. That's what I'll do.

[identity profile] tigereyedrogue.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Cake? Awesome. I even know what to bring for you. (Mwahaha.)

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, plenty of cake. I plan to indulge.

(I am mildly concerned by your mad-scientist laugh there.)

[identity profile] tigereyedrogue.livejournal.com 2008-10-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
^__^ (lucky that Daimon isn't the actual mad scientist in this equation, with HIS sense of humor....)

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2008-10-23 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh boy. :p

(OOC: LOL, yeah, really. Though now Doc and I feel mildly guilty about not getting him anything.)

[identity profile] tigereyedrogue.livejournal.com 2008-10-23 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
(Meh, he's not celebrating it until the housewarming anyway. :))
