It's Time. . . .

Doc's excited. It's a very special day for him. Today, he is going to finally take a step toward realizing his lifelong dream. The car is fully wired, and everything checks out on the preliminary tests. The DeLorean is finally, FINALLY ready for time travel. Granted, Doc is still a little iffy about the time-dilation effect in place on the pocket of reality he now calls home, but he figures that he can at least try a short time trip, just to see if everything truly works. Just to achieve the dream.

Of course, a moment like this must be shared with one's closest friends. Doc promptly sends out a message over the PINpoint to Marty and Alice, asking them to come to his world, before going to the apartment next to his and knocking on Victor's door. "Hey Victor!"

Victor opens the door after a moment, looking curious. "What is it, Doc?"

"This is it," Doc tells him with a bright grin. "I'm finally going to break the time barrier. I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss such an momentous event."

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, certainly not!" Victor says, coming outside. "It's really ready?"

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yup," Doc says. "Every wire is in place, every circuit set, every part soldered. You simply cannot get more complete. And considering that, according to the movies, today is apparently the junction point of the entire space-time continuum, there's no more perfect day to do a test. I've already contacted Marty and Alice, so as soon as they arrive, we'll be on our way."

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Victor nods and smiles. "This is wonderful. I do hope they arrive soon."

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Marty arrives first, looking almost as excited as Doc. "This is really it?"

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is really it! Just think, Marty – you're going to be witness to – well, I suppose it's no longer the first instance of time travel. Certainly not with the Nexus around. But it's close enough for my purposes."

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Marty agrees. "This is so great, Doc. I can't wait to see the car in action!"

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Me either, Marty!" He glances at his watch. "Come on, Alice, hurry up. . . ."

[identity profile] save-us-alice.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Fortunately, Alice appears not long afterward. "Sorry – you caught me while I was hunting snarks," she explains, indicating her slightly-damp hair. "I had to take a moment to dry myself off before coming."

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hunting snarks?" Marty repeats, puzzled. "What's a snark?"

[identity profile] save-us-alice.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"A vile fish with legs, a long sticky tongue, poisonous spit, and sharp teeth," Alice says with utter distaste. "They made life very difficult for me when Wonderland was having its troubles."

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lewis Carroll wrote a poem about them being hunted," Victor adds. "It's quite funny. Though he never specified what a snark is in that poem – only that it could sometimes be a Boojum. Which isn't specified either."

[identity profile] save-us-alice.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"In my Wonderland, they're ghost-like creatures that go around howling at you," Alice says. "Almost as annoying as the snarks. I wouldn't be surprised if they were related." She shakes her head. "Let's not dwell on irritating beasts – I want to see this time machine."

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right this way, my lady," Doc says, leading the way over to the parking lot where the DeLorean sits. It looks much like the DeLorean of Part I did, with one important difference – there's no plutonium chamber. Instead, Doc has a lightning rod sticking up from that place. Why mess around with dangerous nuclear power when you yourself have the ability to call 1.21 gigawatts down from the sky? Doc gestures to it proudly. "What do you think?"

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Looking good, Doc," Marty says.

[identity profile] deadgirlsliekme.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's amazing," Victor agrees.

[identity profile] save-us-alice.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's beautiful," Alice says, taking Victor's arm. "And it can truly travel through time?"

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Only one way to find out." Doc opens up the car door and retrieves the remote he's rigged up. "Our initial test run will be with just the empty DeLorean," he says. "I don't want to risk anybody just in case something does go wrong."

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hope this includes not making any of us stand in front of it," Marty says, half-jokingly.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Doc rolls his eyes. "I really don't know what my other self was thinking with that stunt," he says, switching the remote on. "Then again, different life circumstances, different points of view. . . ." He retrieves another device from the car – this one a video camera. "Though I agree with him on one point – Marty, would you please film this?"

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure thing, Doc," Marty says, accepting the camera.

[identity profile] save-us-alice.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Where did you get that?" Alice asks, puzzled.

[identity profile] clockwork-doc.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Took it from a shop," Doc says easily. "Yes, I'm aware it's technically stealing, but as Victor and I are the only living human beings in this pocket of reality. . . ." He shrugs.

[identity profile] museicalmarty.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Marty fiddles with the video camera, briefly puzzled as to how to work it (it's much more modern than he's used to). After a minute, though, he figures out how to turn it on and get it to record. He aims it at Doc. "Okay, we're rolling!"
